Creating the right atmosphere is something Gary, the owner of Church Hill, puts a lot of thought into. The music is selected from a time that seemed to bridge the generation gap; songs that bring back long-forgotten memories or live-recordings that send a tingle to your toes. Gary is an inspirational man who believes there are no limitations in the kitchen, or in life, and whose instinctive cooking and boundless hospitality will give you an unforgettable experience.
Church Hill is perched high above Halfmoon Bay nestled amongst native Stewart Island bush. Once a cottage, it has retained its 19th century homely charm with traditional features such as an open fireplace and wooden floors. Complemented by the addition of a veranda, outdoor diners can admire spectacular views over the bay towards the Muttonbird (or Titi) Islands.
