Gary Huggins originated from Auckland and had lived in New Zealand's South Island for many years before coming to Stewart Island in 2000. 

He has owned and operated Church Hill Restaurant since 2003 and, if asked, would say that he is primarily a 'front of house' hospitality man.  He cooks instinctively and passionately and enjoys creating a magical experience for Church Hill guests.
